My only hesitation in this case, however, is that it might make the text difficult to read, as in this image, thus somewhat defeating the purpose. I understand, of course, that this image is not final, just meant to convey the idea. That being said, I suspect it might be difficult to make an image with a forge weld on it where the text is sufficiently legible. I suppose that's what graphic designers get paid the big bucks for, though. :-)Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04534315181525820658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8763113769544030124.post-21490299376319027002010-02-03T13:47:08.659-05:002010-02-03T13:47:08.659-05:00To be honest, while I'm a big believer in givi...To be honest, while I'm a big believer in giving input and feedback to help out as much as possible, you guys have done such a good job so far organizing it, there just isn't much input to give, really. I realize it sounds obsequious, but you've got so far is just bang on, the demonstrators all look good, the operating philosophy about it being our conference and about having demonstrators who are not just knowledgeable and talented but who are also good teachers, it all makes sense. So, at least from my limited perspective, the reason you may not be getting much useful feedback may be because none of us have any disagreements with what you've done already or have anything useful to add.David Brandowhttp://www.ontarioblacksmiths.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8763113769544030124.post-80844521171587697922009-12-22T19:58:53.206-05:002009-12-22T19:58:53.206-05:00Please keep the registration as low as possible if...Please keep the registration as low as possible if you want people to come. A $200 preregistation price seems to me like a minimum feasible price, it doesn't seem likely to me that $150 would be doable without a pretty high attendance figure. We have decided to stress COMMUNICATIONS ability as the first requirement for any of our demonstrators. A second characteristic is DESIGN ABILITY. A third wrinkle has surfaced, which is HUMAN POWER. There is only 110 volt electric available, so all heavy work needs to be undertaken using good old fashioned strikers.

With only two demonstration stations planned, its not likely CanIRON will need to break down into specific theme tracks.
We are of course selecting demonstrators who will illustrate contemporary, traditional, bladesmithing, ... all the stuff we know will interest our participants. Stay tuned, as we should be releasing our potential demonstrator's list in a day or two!the Wareham Forgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14584324650436543045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8763113769544030124.post-72783841672844176552009-11-23T09:35:17.206-05:002009-11-23T09:35:17.206-05:00Having attended a lot of business conferences in m...Having attended a lot of business conferences in my day, one possible suggestion would be to have themed tracks. So you might divide the presentations into perhaps three categories, A, B & C. Maybe A is Beginner, B is Intermediate, C is Advanced. Or maybe A is Knives, B is Machinery Use and C is Decorative Embellishments. Anyway, just a thought.David Brandowhttp://www.ontarioblacksmiths.canoreply@blogger.com
